Description
Renewal
the long hard winter takes its toll on living things.
they cannot withstand the fury of its biting cold winds.
but even the winter of quiet desparation holds within it the promise if spring
awakening from a quarter century's hibernation I see before me a beautiful bud,
delicate and precious,
it opens itself to the dawning of a new day.
a new time of life,
a season of vast changes approaches.
it sees things change but clings to its old habits learned under a lifetime of snow filled sadness.
there is safety to be had in cringing from the cold,
wishing to remain virtually frost-proof, the bud closes itself off
at the slightest hint of winters reprise fearing the scalding frost still.
oh to awaken this bud to see the beauty that surrounds it
trees splashed with emerging color paint splashed delicately upon a canvas
by some old master once again as every year before.
spring can bring storms
that tear at the new-formed life
stong buds survive
and thrive on the challenges they face.
oh gentle bud, will you heed the calling of new life and leave the harsh winters past behind?
to join with me in welcoming the spring and the hope it holds for the future?
old patterns and missed chances cannot and will not stand
in the way of the onrushing tide of renewal the soul of creation in all its splendor
standing before you with arms open, hoping to embrace and nurture
where there once was despair nature offers life and hope.
you have taken root in my soul..
vernal rebirth awaits the brave of heart
come, leave the winter behind
trust spring to do its magic.
