A brown pelican sits atop a structure at the end of the Kure Beach fishing pier, Kure Beach, North Carolina, patiently waiting for fishermen and tourists to offer up fish or chunks of bread. It was a gorgeous December 28th afternoon and there were lots of folks out enjoying the day, the pelicans hanging around acting like the celebrities they are. Life is good.
